Foxes And Owls

4 min read
Lately I have been encountering foxes and owls quite frequently, both figuratively and literally. It all started when my girlfriend and I drove out to the country to watch the meteor shower a couple of weeks ago. We didn't have an actual place to go, we just wanted to get away from the light pollution of the city and figured maybe we'd find somewhere decent to watch the stars from and after driving around for way too long we finally gave up and just went down a random gravel road, stopped on the side of it and rolled down our windows to get a preview of the sky before we actually got out of the vehicle.

I turned the engine off and my girlfriend Sara poked her head almost all the way out of the passenger side of the vehicle facing upward while i laid across the middle basically on my back with my head in her lap looking upward toward the night sky. Maybe two full minutes passed when suddenly there was a woosh of wings and the brilliantly starlit sky went almost completely black as a huge shape came swooping in to presumably land on top of my car. It was perhaps the biggest owl I have ever seen in real life. He was gigantic.

Unfortunately, we both let out a screech of surprise and it pulled back right before it was about to land, wheeled around and took off like a lightning bolt. Ever since that night it seems like owls and foxes have been popping up all over the place. Only recently I discovered the work of 4steex who creates brilliant owl art as well as many other types of art but the owls are what really caught my eye.

Which leads me to this raffle thing you should check out and join in on if you can. Someone I know on here is hosting the raffle and I'm pretty sure all you gotta do is join a group of foxes, well not a group of wild foxes but rather a more domesticated variety, and then you're pretty much in after that if I remember right. Actually here's the link right here...

And here is a link to the group....

I have always been interested in collecting rare and interesting items; I'm always scouring garage sales, storage unit auctions, flea markets and just about any event where items can be purchased secondhand.  When you spend great amounts of time getting to know the community of folks who deal in such things you begin to develop leads and learn of events or methods of finding sales that the average joe knows nothing about.  It was about two weeks ago that I was invited to what is probably the most exclusive and secretive second hand treasure sale that there is.

The event is called The Holiday and takes place once a month in the woods near Colorado Springs on private land.  Today I went for the first time and was quite simply amazed at the variety of wonderful things that were for sale.  It seemed as if every single merchant was offering trinkets and valuables at deals that you shouldn’t pass up, it was all I could do not to spend all of my money within the first 20 minutes of looking around.  Still despite all of the inviting deals I am a very shrewd shopper and knew I would be better served by being patient with my cash and waiting till I could find a purchase I would be truly proud of.  It wasn’t too long before my patience paid off.

Near the very back of the fair and in somewhat obscure location I discovered a little kiosk ran by a merchant who called himself The Moth Man.  He had many books for sale and after some rummaging I found and old and tattered book titled "The Eye of Nephlem".  I tried to open it to look inside but it was latched shut and yet there appeared to be no keyhole, I found this perplexing and walked over to The Moth Man’s little table he was making his sales from and asked him if he knew anything about the book.

I quickly discovered that the old merchant was highly knowledgeable about ancient writings and knew a great deal about "The Eye of Nephlem" as well as many other rare and interesting books.  I ended up deep in conversation with him for several hours and after learning all about the book, I decided to purchase it.  As soon as I completed the transaction I swiftly headed back to my house.  I was in utter amazement at what I had learned about the rare and ancient treasure that I had acquired.

According to The Moth Man the lock on "The Eye of Nephlem” can only be opened exposing the book to moonlight from a lunar eclipse.  When the eclipse is over the book will close by itself and cannot be opened until the next eclipse.  He claimed that the book has a very specific and unique power.  I was told that if I follow the instructions I was given correctly I can make the book record the seven single most evil deeds that any one specific person has committed in there entire life.

In order for it to work, the person whose deeds you wish to record must be the last person to touch the book, after the subject has touched the book you must wrap an article of his or her clothing all the way around the book, place it in a cool dark place and scatter a light amount of salt on its cover.  Leave it for at least an hour, however you can leave it longer if you like.  The next time you are able to open the book, the person will have there own page with their name at the top and there seven most evil sins they have committed listed directly below.  Apparently their name will even be listed in the index along with all the others who have been recorded in the past.

The methods to use the book are such that if you wanted, you could use it on someone without them knowing.  All you would have to do is obtain an article of there clothing and get them to handle the book, just make sure you wear gloves when you yourself handle the book after they have touched it.  At this point I don't plan on using it in such a way, I already have a volunteer who is going to let me try it out on them so I'll probably set it up tonight, then we just have to wait till the next lunar eclipse to see what the book records.

I'll keep you guys updated on how the experiment pans out!  I can't wait to find out what it says!
